As you collect more and more apps (including those that are built-in, and those that you download from the App Store), you might start thinking of ways that you want to manage or organize them. For example, you could rearrange the icons on your Home screen to make things easier to find. You could also edit your apps' settingsand notifications to customize the way they work.
Notifications alert you to many things on your iPad, including incoming messages, new emails, calendar events, and more. They're different in every app, but can be a huge benefit to helping you keep up with everyday tasks and responsibilities.

Organizing the Home Screen

As you probably know, the Home screen contains an icon for every app on your device. That means it can get pretty crowded, especially if you've had your iPad for a while. Here are some tips to help you customize your Home screen, so your favorite apps are always easy to find. To see these techniques in action, check out the video at the top of this page.
  • Rearrange your icons by touching and holding any app on the Home screen. When the icons begin to shake, drag and drop them wherever you want (even on or off the dock) to change their arrangement. To move an icon to another screen, drag it to the left or right edge. When you're done, press the Home button on your device to save your changes.

  • Create additional Home screens by dragging an icon to the far right edge. This gives you even more room to rearrange your apps. To navigate between different Home screens, just swipe left or right. Occasionally, the iPad will create additional screens for you (up to 11) if the current number of screens is full. When you're done, remember to press the Home button to save.

  • Create a folder by dragging one icon on top of another. To add more icons to the folder, keep dragging and dropping the ones you want. This is a great way to organize similar apps (for example, your favorite games or social media services), so they take up less space, and are easier to find. When you're done, remember to press the Home button to save.
